FEATURED SUCCESS STORIES
Saving Sylvia
Sylvia had kittens and took up residence in an old playhouse in a kind woman's back yard. The woman already had several cats of her own, and couldn't afford the care of 3 more. Her teenaged daughter spent a lot of time socializing Sylvia and her kittens, which went a long way towards making them all adoptable pets. The woman was a teller at a grocery store, and one day while chatting with a customer she found a way to help Sylvia and her kittens...all three were taken in by Happy Tails Rescue! In December 2008, Sylvia was lucky enough to find a wonderful home where she has her own kitty condo, can spend hours watching birds at the window or playing with ping-pong balls. Most importantly she's loved and cherished! Happy Tails Goes International!
Ella Blossom was adopted here in Georgia, and her family even helped volunteer with Happy Tails Rescue. Eventually the family moved back to Finland taking Ella Blossom with them. Recently this little girl was featured on a website news article about a new dog park in their city. This photo is from that article, she's all dressed up in her warm finest for the grand opening.
Puppies Saved and Reunited We were contacted by Richmond County Animal Control in Feb. 2006 that a mother dog had been killed by a car, and left 6 4 -day old puppies. I agreed to take 3 of them. I met a volunteer from Augusta Animal Rescue Friends, who had transported them from RCAC, and the 'race was on'!
These pups were about the size of hot dogs buns, and were used to suckling on their mother. They had difficulty changing to a bottle. I had to find premie nipples for them, and finally they figured out how to nurse.
Once they learned to suck from a bottle, they grew very rapidly. We ordered the formula on line (because it was much less expensive) and had it shipped weekly. As the puppies grew, so did their appetities, and our orders increased in frequency!
All 3 puppies survived and thrived due to the loving support and care of a team of volunteers.
Stevie, the tri- colored pup, used to dance when he smelled the formula, so he was named after Stevie Wonder! Maynard, one of the two black and white pups, was named after a TV character from the '60s', because of his black goatee.
The reunion of Stevie and Maynard was wonderful! (Shown in the photo above) They get to see each other several times during the year, and always act like they recognize each other!
All 3 pups have been adopted into loving homes in the local area. Hopefully, all of them can meet again one day! Three more lives saved by dedicated volunteers! |
